This is How Headaches Reveal What’s Wrong With Your Health

A headache is one of the most common forms of pain. Some people get headaches when they’re tired, or sleep deprived. Some people have headaches if they don’t drink enough water, some from stress, etc… There are 4 common types of headaches and all of them indicate something about your body. If you know the symptoms, you can treat your headache properly. Below is a quick guide to reveal what’s wrong with your health according to the headache you have.

1. SINUS HEADACHE

A sinus headache occurs when sinuses become inflamed or clogged. This causes pain in the face, nose, and eyes that gets worse when your bend over or wake up. Common causes for this type of headache include allergic reaction, an infection, or worst case scenario, a tumor. Symptoms closely resemble those of a migraine.
Treatment: consume as much liquid as possible. (the healthy ones of course) You can benefit a lot from the use of warm water, it helps reduce inflammation and opens your sinuses. You can also try to apply cold and hot compresses to the area affected. Another way to reduce pain is by eating soup, or fresh ginger because of its powerful anti-inflammatory and pain-reducing properties. Another natural method is to make a salt water nasal drop with. Mix 1 teaspoon of warm water and at least 1/8 teaspoon of salt to make this solution. Put 3 or 4 drops in each nostril to help drain and unclog your sinuses and relieve the headache naturally.

2. TENSION HEADACHE

A tension headache is the most usual type of headache that is brought on  by a constant pressure or pain around your head. The pain mainly occurs in the back of the head, your neck, or at the temples. This type of headache can cause a pulsing pain below or above the eye area. Typically, the pain can last between a few minutes to an hour or two, but worst case scenario a few days! Causes usually include lack of sleep, lack of food, stress, high emotions, alcohol, or certain types of food.
Treatment: Peppermint oil and ginger tea can efficiently reduce pain. Add a couple drops of peppermint oil to the hairline and you’ll get a cooling sensation that helps to relax the head and neck muscles. Ginger tea is excellent for relieving inflammation. If you have access to Eucalyptus oil you could add it to boiled water and cover you head with a towel, and inhale the steam. Rubbing lavender oil on your temples is also high effective at easing physical and mental stress.

3. CLUSTER HEADACHE

The cluster headache usually occurs above one eye, and for some reason, mostly affects women. This type of headache tends to be recurring, and may come in a cycle or group. The pain happens quite suddenly and leads to a severe pain on one side of the head. You may also experience nasal congestion, runny nose or watery eyes. Its cause isn’t exactly known, but it seems to happen when certain nerve pathways are activated in the brain.
Treatment: A small amount of Capsaicin (cayenne pepper) cream applied to the nostril will cause a block to the nerve pain signals. Inhaling basil essential oil can really help too.

4. MIGRAINE

Migraines typically happen to people between the age of 25 and 55, but can also be experienced at any age. This headache type is the most complicated, because it has many neurological symptoms. Migraines can be caused by an intense, throbbing pain on one side of the head. In a third (33%) of migraine attacks, the pain occurs on the both sides of the head. (ouch) The pain is often combined with other symptoms like vomiting, dizziness, nausea, visual disturbances, extreme sensitivity to light, smell, touch, sound, as well as numbness or tingling in the face. The pain is often described as oscillating from the top of the head down.
Treatment:
Studies show that many migraine patients get relief from omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B12 (riboflavin), and magnesium. Add more of these vitamins and minerals to your diet to help prevent prevent migraines. One thing you can do now is apply a water and cinnamon paste to the forehead. The juice from 3 or 4 sliced lemons in a cup of tea can also help bring immediate relief.
